About The Author

Clark Landale is a U.S.-born author, former international rugby player, and adoptive father whose writing centers on cultural curiosity, adoption, and the bonds that shape families.

Clark’s life has been shaped by sport, travel, and storytelling. A former international rugby player, he has lived in Ireland and New Zealand and traveled extensively throughout Europe. These experiences—combined with his role as an adoptive father to a son from South Korea and uncle to a niece also adopted from Korea—inform his deeply personal approach to writing.

Through his work, Clark aims to create stories that help children understand identity, heritage, and belonging in ways that feel accessible, honest, and affirming. His writing is especially focused on middle-grade readers, an age when questions about origins, culture, and family naturally begin to surface.

Matthew & Mary is his debut series.
